It can be a struggle to navigate the world of professional fashion, considering changing trends and varying industry standards. Let’s dive into current trends and where to get proper clothes.
Capsule Wardrobe
After conducting some minor research and based on my own personal knowledge, the most popular professional attire trend is known as “power casual”. According to Cosmopolitan this is usually modeled by looser fitting dress pants with a matching vest top or a tight shirt/turtleneck and a loose fitting blazer, the power casual style can be executed without an unreasonable amount of effort.. With the most popular colors being neutrals (navy, black, grey, etc.), an easy approach to shopping is to buy about 4 pieces that can be mixed and matched together. This way, you’re not buying outfits on outfits with pieces that can’t be worn separately. Upon joining HVC, I used this strategy to buy clothes for the all firms.
Where to Shop
The next step in creating a professional wardrobe is to start shopping. Endless options can either be a blessing or an overwhelming obstacle for those new to the scene. Athleta offers some great options including wide leg stretchy pants made out of a thick material that is appropriate for professional settings. I got my first pair of professional pants from Athleta and they were extremely comfortable, affordable, and were easy to mix and match with any tops. They also offer a wide range of professional button ups that are easy to pair with their pants.
After I came to college, I wanted to get some more elevated professional clothes that looked nicer and a little higher quality so I turned to Aritzia. They have a great selection of blazer and pants sets and blouses that pair well.. They offer bomber jackets made out of the same material which is great for a more casual setting. Aritzia’s collections are consistently up to date with current trends, and I have confidence in their knowledgeable staff, the store is a one stop shop for my professional attire needs.
Whether it comes to the current professional dress trends or where to get those clothes, I hope that this information is helpful when you are looking for your next professional outfit!
